About Me
My name is Alisha Khawaja. I am nineteen years old and a current student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I plan on studying Information and Computer Science with a minor in data science. I was born and raised in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. I have always called North Carolina my home. My family consists of me, my mother, my father, and my grandmother. In high school, I spent the majority of my time focusing on my studies by being in dual enrollment courses. I would also volunteer at the Asheboro Zoo and a local soup kitchen. I was in jewelry-making and sewing competitions, which later led me to compete in national competitions. I was part of creating a tutoring club at my high school. I was also vice president of the Science National Honor Society in high school. As a student at UNC, I am a member of multiple clubs that include Women in Comp Sci, AI at UNC, CDC at UNC, and the Pakistani Society. I have found amazing people and friends at these clubs. I also like to explore different parts of campus and see what Chapel Hill has. Since I am new to the triangle area, I am eager to learn about what the research triangle offers to the community. I also enjoy traveling. My favorite place in the United States to visit is Chicago. In my opinion, it has the perfect balance of the city life that New York City offers with an emphasis on the arts. My favorite countries I have traveled to are my home country, Pakistan, and Canada. Canada is such a beautiful country with many gorgeous scenic places for tourists. I am originally from Attock, Pakistan. Pakistan holds a special place in my heart as that is where all of my favorite family members live and where I made some of the best memories of my life there. Some more random facts about me are that my favorite fruit is raspberries, but I can not stand oranges, I love to play cooking fever, and I love glitter in my makeup.
